The Shakespeare is an honest-to-goodness proper pub. Located slap bang in the middle of Stoke Newington it stands proudly unaffected by the passing of time, with traditional interiors that have been lovingly maintained. Focused solely on serving excellent drinks in a cosy and welcoming space, the good old Shakespeare is part of a dying breed of old-fashioned pubs. We have a working fireplace to keep your toes toasty in the winter, TVs for the footie, a quiz night and in true London boozer tradition we also have a jar of pickled eggs on the bar.
This is where we really come into our own. We offer a fantastic selection of ales and lagers, including our ever popular draught Belgian beer, alongside a thoughtful wine list and more spirits than you can shake a candy cane at. Each drink is carefully stored, expertly poured and lovingly served. Forget calling us The Shakespeare, we should be called The Shakesbeer! That was a good one, right?
We don’t serve food, but we’d highly recommend the pizza shop right next door! Get your hands on one of their four cheese pizza’s and head back into The Shakespeare to enjoy it with a pint or glass of red. You could throw a couple of coins into our jukebox and enjoy some of your favourite soul, jazz or rhythm and blues tracks whilst tucking into your food. We might even let you pop on a Christmas jingle or two if we’re feeling particularly jolly.
